Visite Surprise: SERVICE

2012. Performance tour through the exhibition “Wahlverwandtschaften. Imaginationen des Nomadischen in der Gegenwartskunst”, Museum of Ethnography Hamburg. 50 min. On invitation of Peter Herbstreuth.

I introduce myself as a representative of the “SERVICE”, a fictitious German Secret Service, whose terminology I adopt both linguistically and ideologically. I postulate that the ethnographic exhibition was organized by the Secret Service in order to gain knowledge of terrorist organizations that use nomadic strategies and tactics.

Visitors are informed that the service is observing nomads in preparation for anti-terror special missions. Nobody objects.
