The essay film shows a slow passage through the Czech village Lampertice in one continuous shot, while a letter describing the village history is being read to a fictitious grandmother. The text mixes personal and collective memories of displaced Sudeten Germans in a humourous, partly sarcastic but also benevolent tone, weaving together memories, traumas, projections, dreams and contemporary facts.
